We originally contacted @rhino_net on instagram looking for a bigger/deeper net that can handle BIG urban carp without breaking the bank.

Rhino Net specializes in custom nets at an affordable price so we worked through the available options and placed an order for the Guide Lunker model with the extra deep basket. Rhino Net offers a variety of different handle lengths, basket depth options, net colors, and you get to pick your favorite custom color paracord for the handle and net wraps!

Each Rhino Net is a standard aluminum fishing net that is Rhino coated for extra durability and to give it the custom rhino look. High quality rubber nets are also added to avoid hooks getting caught in standard fabric netting. The frames are then hand wrapped with a paracord color of your choice for endless possibilities of custom nets.

The Guide Lunker that we originally ordered has it pros and cons depending on how you intend to use. It is a great product but we have discovered that it is just too big for a recon mission for urban carp. If you plan on covering a lot of water to find tailing fish, there is no easy way to carry this net or carry it on your pack. HOWEVER, this net is an excellent net for a boat, or if you want to set out some bait and bank fish. There have also been a few urban fish that we would not of landed without this net due to the fact that there was not easy access to the water and we were able to reach down further with this longer handle.

We then switched things up with the Mini Lunker model and have been extremely happy with the combination of carry-size and big net capabilities. It is wider than the Nomad net we normally use, and the rounder basket helps keeps bigger fish down in the net as opposed to wedged into the basket. We enjoy using both nets, it just depends on how you want to use them and what you plan to catch. If we hit the river looking for trout, we would carry the nomad. If we are looking for carp and need the option of landing big carp, no doubt we will be bringing along the #Rhinonet. There are more expensive nets out there, and there are cheaper nets out there, but the Rhino Net seems to offer the perfect combination of price, durability, and customization.

Don’t forget to hashtag #urbananglersusa on Instagram and we will reblog your urban fishing pics!
Please practice Catch & Release in urban settings to preserve these precious resources for other urban anglers.
