Another option for Urban Anglers to find great water to fish is to get out a map and discover reservoirs throughout the city and city limits. Reservoirs can offer great fishing and solitude amongst the fray of the city. The best way to approach a reservoir is to do research at home before heading out. Tools like google earth, department of wildlife maps, and the internet are great places to start if you don’t know where to go on a particular lake. Use these tools to locate where channels and structure before you go and it will save you time. Plus knowing where the major coves, river channels, and creek inlets are located can increase your odds of landing fish.

The great thing about fishing many reservoirs is that you can go there multiple times and focus on different spots each time. Focusing your efforts on small sectors of the lake allow you to determine the patterns of that fishery and where the fish are holding. This can come in handy when you want to take out your buddies and impress them with an awesome day on the water.
